Applied English Essentials is designed to help students develop proficiency in all aspects of grammar important in business writing. The workbook provides instruction on the correct uses of the eight parts of speech. Particular emphasis is given to nouns, verbs, and pronouns. The instruction material and practice exercises stress correct grammar and sentence structure.
The instruction in the text is organized into these elements:
INFORMATION. An information section begins each unit with guidelines and examples that outline and illustrate the rules of grammar.
PRACTICE. Each information section is followed by exercises that give students practice with the rules and guidelines presented. Answers to these exercises are in the back of the book.
APPLICATION. At the end of each unit is a two page review exercise that gives students the opportunity to apply the concepts presented in the unit.
RECAP. At regular intervals, there are summaries of the guidelines presented in the preceeding units followed by additional exercises for review and reinforcement.
OVERVIEW. The final unit in the text is a comprehensive review exercise covering all material presented in the text.
Applied English Essentials can be used individually for a short course or used with Applied Punctuation, Sixth Edition and Correct Spelling, Third Edition as part of the three-workbook set Basic English for a complete English course.
