Free error-checking software available for download. Free professional error-checking software and keys specifically designed for use with Typing for Accuracy, Basic Keyboarding, and Faster Typing are available on our website for download. For instructors, this means no more hands-on proofreading and grading of assignments.

How error-checking software works. Through a special arrangement with S. E. Warner Software, we have made available error-checking software for use with Rowe books. Once the student completes an exercise, the software automatically checks for errors in spelling, punctuation, between-word spacing, run-together words, skipped words, margins, capitalization, indents, and more. The software calculates gross words per minute, an error count, and words per minute and places them in a permanent student record where they can be managed by the instructor with the tools provided for them in the software.

How to download the free error-checking software. The downloadable files are in self-extracting zip format for ease of use. To download a file, simply click the product name on the S. E. Warner website. A dialog box will appear asking whether you want to open the files immediately or store them somewhere on your computer. We recommend that you choose the Save this program to disk option. Be sure to note the destination directory, and then click Save to download. Locate the downloaded file on your hard drive after the data has been transferred, then click on the file icon. Another dialog box will appear. Click the Unzip button to install the files in a default location or to another location that you designate. After unzipping, click the OK button. Click the Close button.

How to install the free error-checking software. Locate the unzipped files on your hard drive, and double-click the application file named Setup. The Setup dialog box will appear. Once you have read each box thoroughly, click the Next button to advance. Be careful to note where you are installing the files. Once you have completed choosing your setup options, click the Install button. Click Finish to complete setup. A Read Me file is automatically displayed following a successful installation. IMPORTANT. Be sure to print these instructions as you will need them in order to use the program for the very first time. Once the program and the keys have been installed, the files you originally downloaded are no longer necessary. You may erase them from the hard drive.
